UL Equipment nameplates

UL nameplates are often found on electrical and  or mechanical equipment in houses or buildings.  The nameplates indicates that the equipment has passes testing or meets standards set by the UL.  The UL, LLC was formerly know as Underwriter’s Laboratory.  The United States department of Occupational Health and Safety Association (OSHA) recognizes and or requires specific UL standards.

UL, similar to other organizations, like the Better Business Bureau (BBB), is not a government organization and has no independent authority.
