Truncated dome paving traffic texturing – Where safety meets innovation
Truncated dome paving traffic texturing is used as a tactile indicator. The dome shape on the floor or ground paving adds resistance to prevent slipping and also is set approximately 1/4 inch above the adjacent paving which creates a noticeable difference to pedestrians when walking or crossing over the area. This tactile difference allows a pedestrian to feel the difference. In the case where an individual is visually impaired the texture change will indicate a transition from a pedestrian only area to an area mixed with both pedestrians and vehicles.
