What are curtain walls, and why they’re revolutionizing architecture
A curtain wall is an applied building facade that is independent from the building load path. Essentially, a curtain wall is hung onto an internal structure but offer no significant support to the main building superstructure.
The image below shows an example of a glass curtain wall on a commercial highrise building. This glass facade is beautiful, almost mirror-like, with openings for balconies and windows, yet is not part of the building’s structral load path.
